SWaM

SWAMThe Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise (DMBE) is dedicated to enhancing opportunities for small, women and minority owned businesses throughout Virginia’s state procurement processes.  DMBE has two main areas of activity:

  1. The certification of small, women and minority owned business as valid either through Virginia’s SWaM program, or through the federal Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE).
  2. The support of those certified businesses through business development and procurement advocacy programs, in cooperation with the other Commonwealth agencies.

The Governor's Office is continually striving to improve SWaM business participation in agency procurements and to increase executive branch contracts awarded to SWaM suppliers. Please visit the Virginia Performs site to see how we're progressing.
